    Half-length portrait of the Duke of Richmond, seated and in profile, facing to the left. The sitter’s face is slightly downturned as he reads a book. Shown with naturally thinning hair, tied in a ribbon, wearing a buttoned jacket with a white cravat. Behind, a tree and natural landscape.

    Frontispiece to Transactions of the Society, instituted at London, for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce… [Transactions of the Royal Society of Arts] v.26 (1808).

    Inscribed below: ‘CHARLES DUKE OF RICHMOND, K.G. F.R. & A.S. Late a Vice President of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce. Drawn and Engraved by Wm. Evans, from an original Picture by Romney in the Possession of the present Duke of Richmond.’

    Charles Lennox, 3rd Duke of Richmond and 3rd Duke of Lennox (1735-1806) British politician was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1755.
