    Half-length seated portrait of George Legge turned to the left as viewed, eyes regarding the viewer. The sitter is shown wearing a high collared coat, with a ribbon, the coat unbuttoned to reveal an embroidered waistcoat and lace cravat.

    Frontispiece to Transactions of the Society, instituted at London, for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce…[Transactions of the Royal Society of Arts] v.31 (1813).

    Inscribed below: ‘George, Earl of Dartmouth, K.G. F.R & A.S. Late a Vice President of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, & Commerce. Engraved by Charles Warren, from a picture by Thomas Phillips R.A. in the possession of the present Earl.’

    George Legge, 3rd Earl of Dartmouth (1755-1810) British politician was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1781.
