Sir Patrick Playfair Laidlaw (1881-1940), British virologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1927. He was awarded the Society's Royal Medal in 1933 for 'his work on diseases due to viruses, including that on the cause and prevention of distemper in dogs'.
