Sir Kenneth Murray (1930-2013), British molecular biologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1979, he served on the council from 1987-89. He was awarded the Royal Medal in 2012 for his crucial contributions to the development of genetic engineering, to biotechnology and to the study of hepatitis viruses. He gave the Leeuwenhoek lecture a molecular biologist’s view of viral hepatitis in 1985.
