    Head and shoulders portrait of John Raymond Postgate inclined to the left and looking out to viewer. He wears wire rimmed spectacles, dark suit jacket with white shirt and silk tie.

    John Raymond Postgate (1922-2014), British plant physiologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1977. He gave the Leeuwenhoek lecture in 1992 on bacterial evolution and the nitrogen-fixing plant.
