    Head and shoulders portrait of George Frederick James Temple face on and looking directly to viewer. He is dressed in black habit and is wearing dark rimmed spectacles.

    Signed by the artist on the front mount and inscribed on the reverse ‘Box 3. PROFESSOR GEORGE TEMPLE F.R.S. 1943, SGRS 8434/23.’

    Stamped ‘COPYRIGHT GODFREY ARGENT STUDIO, 12 HOLLAND ST. LONDON W8 4LT. TEL: 937 0441, 937 4008.’ and ‘The Royal Society of London.’

    George Frederick James Temple (1901-1992), British mathematician, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1943. He was awarded the Sylvester Medal in 1970 ‘for his many distinguished contributions to applied mathematics, especially in his work on distribution theory.’
