    Map of the territory of Todi and Acquasparta in Umbria, Italy, with indications of fossil wood sites.

    Plate 1 to Trattato del Legno Fossile Minerale Nuovamente Scoperto [Treatise of the newly discovered fossilised mineralised wood] by Francesco Stelluti (1637).

    Inscribed with the number 1 and further text around the edge of the map reads ‘Meuaniam et Fulginium Versus. Spoletum Versus. Narniam Versus. Hortanum Versus. Vrbiuentum Versus. Forusiam Versus.’

    Francesco Stelluti (1577-1652), Italian naturalist, was a founding member of the Accademia dei Lincei.
