    Description
    A study of a large piece of fossilised wood shown partially excavated from the earth. The specimen is depicted on its side, where B is pointing upwards. Two bands of separation are shown along the length of the wood at F and G.

    Inscribed with plate number 7 and further text reads ‘Questo pezzo di Legno ouato nel modo chesi uede dalla lrã A fino à B. era alto palmi tre dicanna, dico alto perche futrouato dalla parte A verso le terra, e dalla parte B verso il Cielo e da C sino a D. era largo palmi tvedici. De E sino a F era lungo palmi undici; de F à G. palmi dieci, emezzo da G poi sino ad H fu il legno coperto dalla terra mentre si cauaua, e non si potè uederne il fine.'
