Sir Roger James Elliott (1928-2018), British theoretical physicist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1976 and served on its Council between 1983 and 1988. He gave the Rutherford Memorial Lecture in 1985 and the Blackett Memorial in 1988 on Computing: a new dimension in scientific research.
