Francis James MacDonald Farley (1920-2018), British physicist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1972. He was awarded the Hughes medal in 1980 for his ultra-precise measurements of the muon magnetic moment, a severe test of quantum electrodynamics and of the nature of the muon.
