Head and shoulders portrait of Roger Parsons full face and looking out to viewer. He is dressed in a mid-tone suit jacket with a checked shirt and academic tie.
Signed by the artist ‘Argent’ on the lower left-hand corner of the front mount. Inscribed verso ‘PROF ROGER PARSONS FRS. Box 3(2). Rec’d 22.12.82.’ Stamped ‘The Royal Society of London.’ and ‘GODFREY ARGENT STUDIO. 12 HOLLAND ST. LONDON, W8 4LT. TEL. 937 0441. 937 4008. The identification number of this print is 82 GRS.8293/4.’
Roger Parsons (1926-2017), British electrochemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1980. He was awarded the Davy Medal in 2003 for ‘his distinguished career in electochemistry. [sic] He developed the method of preparing, for the first time, clean and well-defined metal surfaces and putting them into contact with the electrolyte without contamination.’
