Sir Lionel Alexander Bethune Pilkington (1920-1995), British engineer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1969. He was awarded the Society’s Mullard Award in 1968 ‘for his outstanding advances in the technology of glass manufacture and, in particular, for his invention and development of the float glass process’.
