Sir Gilbert Roberts (1899-1978) British civil engineer was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1965. He was awarded the Royal Medal in 1968 in recognition of his distinguished contributions to civil engineering, and in particular to the design and construction of long-span suspension bridges.
