    Map showing the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, the Gulf of St. Lawrence by the top of the North Atlantic Ocean and the island of Newfoundland. The river mouth can be seen in the west, with Newfoundland occupying the east side of the map and the south coast of the Labrador Peninsula is visible in the north. A number of smaller islands, including Anticosti Island, are also shown within the gulf.
