    Map of the Mingan Archipelago by the south coast of the Labrador Peninsula, at the northwest corner of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The mouth of the Mingan River and Mingan Fort can be seen on the peninsula in the northeast of the map. The islands of the Archipelago are shown within the bay, including Mingan Island.

    Inscribed top right: ‘Tome I. No.15.’ With a box upper left: ‘IDEE DE LA RADE / DU MINGAN / Suivant le Journal de la Fregate du Roy / La Diane en 1755’. The framing scale included towards the lower edge of the map is in French nautical leagues.

    Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772), French hydrographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1753.
