    Description
    Map showing the location of the city of New York in relation to its surrounding natural harbour. The western coast of Long Island is shown on the right side of the map, with New York City shown above it on Manhattan Island, between the Hudson River and the East River, which is labelled here as ‘Canal de la Longue Isle’. Staten Island is shown towards the centre of the map, occupying a large section of the harbour.
