    Map of the east coast of the United States showing the area now covered by the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. Philadelphia is shown towards the upper right of the map, Williamsburg can be seen towards the lower edge.

    Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772), French hydrographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1753.
