    Map showing the bay of Santiago de Cuba, on the southeastern coast of the island. A collection of buildings comprising the city can be seen at the top right of the map, with fortifications shown at the entrance to the bay.

    Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772), French hydrographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1753.
