    Map showing the original plan of Kingston, Jamaica showing the old town divided into neat blocks around a park square, now known as Sergeant William Grant Park. The shoreline can be seen at the lower edge of the map, with buildings seen lining the waterfront.

    Inscribed top right: ‘Tome I. No.59.’ With a title: ‘PLAN DE LA VILLE DE KINGSTON / Suivant le projet donné par le Colonel Christian Lilly.’ With a key to the road names on either side of the plan.

    Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772), French hydrographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1753.
