    Map of three bays on the south coast of Haiti, labelled here as the ‘Baye de Cavaillon’, the ‘Bay des Flamands’ and the ‘Baye de Mesle’ and shown whilst the west half of Hispaniola was occupied by France as the colony of Saint-Domingue.

    Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772), French hydrographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1753.
