    Description
    Half-length portrait of William Lancaster within an oval frame. He is shown turned slightly to the right, as viewed, and is seen in ecclesiastical robes with a long wig. Beneath the oval frame a collection of books, one opened to reveal illuminated initials, and an illustration of The Queen's College, Oxford can be seen.

    Inscribed around the frame: ‘GUIL. LANCASTER S.T.P. ARCHIDIAC. MIDDLESEX Sti MARTINI IN AGRIS WESTMONAST. VICAR .COLL.REGIN. OXON.PRÆPOS.NEC NON ACAD. EIUSDEM VICE-CAN. OBIT 4.TO FEBRUARII 1716.’

    Inscribed below: ‘Coll Regin. Oxon conspectus Australis.’ ‘T. Murray Pinxit.’ ‘Geo: Vertue Sculpsit 1718.’ ‘WILLIAMSONI MUNIFICENTIÂ, ET SUÂ.’

    William Lancaster (1650-1717), British clergyman, was not a Fellow of the Royal Society.
