Description
Three-quarter length seated portrait of Johann Heinrich Linck in a long robe with a quill pen in his right hand. He is turned towards the left, as viewed, and is holding up his left hand with his face looking out towards the viewer. He is presented within his apothecary with books lining the shelves on the left side of the print and rows of preserved animals in jars at the top. Linck’s left elbow is resting on a small table which also house an open book showing illustrations of birds and insects.

Johann Heinrich Linck the elder (1674-1734), German naturalist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1718.
