Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey within an oval frame. He is shown in a metal breastplate with a sash and collar over the top. The frame is flanked by pointed flagpoles with plain banners. A helmet can be seen on a stone plinth to the right of the portrait and a sword lies at the bottom of the print by a drum and tree branch.

Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey (1582-1642), British soldier and courtier, was not a Fellow of the Royal Society. His grandson, Robert Bertie, 3rd Earl of Lindsey (1630-1701), British nobleman, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1666.
