Description
Three-quarter length seated portrait showing Charles Lyttelton in loose ecclesiastical vestments and facing towards the left, as viewed. He is seen with an open book in his lap and wearing a curled wig and clerical neck bands. He is presented in a dark interior setting with heavy curtain draped over part of his chair.

Charles Lyttelton (1714-1768), British clergyman and antiquary, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1743.
