    Head and shoulders portrait of Philip Metcalfe in an oval frame, turned slightly towards his right. Metcalfe is shown in a dark high-collared coat with a white cravat. Below the portrait is a crest showing his family’s coat of arms with three calves.

    Philip Metcalfe (1733-1818), English politician, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1790.
