Description
Three-quarter length seated portrait of Thomas Pellet in ceremonial robes, a wig and a long, white cravat. He is shown holding a hat in his left hand, resting his right hand on the arm of his chair. The bust of a classical figure, possibly Aristotle, can be seen behind him.
Inscribed below: ‘M Dalh pinxt’ ‘I.Faber fecit’ ‘Thomas Pellet M.D. / Præses Coll: Reg: Medicosum Londinens, Anno 1739.’ ‘Sold by J.Faber at the Golden Head in Bloomsbury Square.’
Thomas Pellet (1671-1744), British physician, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1712.
