Object history
In ‘Portraits of Doctors & Scientists in the Wellcome Institute’ (1973), Renate Burgess described this lithograph as by M. Gauci after a design by Bowman. This is probably the American portraitist James Bowman (c.1793-1842) who was in London during the 1820s.
