Description
Half-length portrait of Marc-Auguste Pictet within an oval frame, he is shown in a dark jacket with a white shirt and cravat. Pictet is presented turned slightly towards his left with the tops of trees visible in the background on either side of him.
Inscribed below: ‘Peint par Fn Massot en 1809 et gravé à Genève en 1821 pár Am Bouvier éléve de Mr Schenke’ ‘M. A. PICTET.’ ‘Professeur de Physique dans [l’Aca]démie / de Geneve’ ‘Imprimé par Tattegrain’.
Marc-Auguste Pictet (1752-1825), Genevan natural philosopher, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1791.
