Description
Half-length portrait of Richard Pulteney within an oval frame. He is shown turned slightly to his right, wearing a dark jacket, white cravat and a headscarf. His likeness is based on the painted portrait by Thomas Beach now in the Linnean Society.
Inscribed top-right: ‘Vol. III. Pl. CXVI. p.848.’ Inscribed below: ‘Painted by T.Beach 1788.’ ‘Engraved by Js. Basire.’ ‘RICHARD PULTENERY, M.D. F.R.S. / Born at Loughborough, 1730, Died at Blandford, 1801.’ ‘Published by J.Nichols April 3d. 1804.’
