    Description
    Half-length portrait of Jean-Jacques Rousseau within an oval frame. He is shown turned towards his right, with his head turned back to the left to look out towards the viewer. The frame is surmounted by laurel leaves and a radiant sun emerging from a dark cloud.

    Below the portrait is an illustration of the Rousseau’s original tomb, on a small island in Parc Jean-Jacques Rousseau in Ermenonville, northern France. The tomb is shown within a cluster of tall trees on an island in a tranquil lake.
