                                Full length studio portrait of Balfour wearing a frock coat and holding a top hat in his right hand. His left hand rests upon a chair back. A pair of gloves is lying on the seat of the chair.  
Printed below the image: “MAULL & Co. LONDON”. The reverse is variously inscribed: printed “Maull & Co. Photographers, 55 GRACECHURCH STREET, 187A, PICCADILLY and TAVISTOCK HOUSE, FULHAM ROAD, LONDON.” There is a pencilled negative number: “42357”.
