Description
Full length studio portrait of Thomas Graham Balfour standing between a table and chair. The sitter holds a book in his left hand which rests on the table. Another book and inkwell are laid on the table.
Printed below the image: “MAULL & Co. LONDON”. The reverse is variously inscribed and printed with a coat of arms: “MAULL & Co. PHOTOGRAPHERS, 55 GRACECHURCH STREET, 187A, PICCADILLY W. TAVISTOCK HOUSE, FULHAM ROAD, 62 CHEAPSIDE, EC.” There is a pencilled negative number: “38105”.
John Hutton Balfour was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1858.
