Description
Full length studio portrait of J T Boileau turned slightly to the right as viewed. Boileau’s left hand rests on two books lying on a small wooden table, upon which are an inkwell, hat and gloves, with a curtain or drape behind. A chair is visible to the left as viewed. Boileau holds a furled umbrella in his right hand.
Inscribed below the image: “MAULL & Co. LONDON”. The reverse is variously inscribed: printed “MAULL & Co. Photographers, 55, GRACECHURCH STREET, 187a PICCADILLY and TAVISTOCK HOUSE, FULHAM ROAD. LONDON.” Below, the negative number: “34321”.
John Theophilus Boileau was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1840.
