Head and shoulders portrait of John Charles Bucknill, elderly and fully-bearded, head turned to the left and in near-profile.
Printed below the image: “MAULL & FOX, 187A PICCADILLY, LONDON.” The reverse has various inscriptions including a series of printed coats of arms and “MAULL & FOX PHOTOGRAPHERS TO THE ROYAL FAMILY Portrait and Miniature Painters, 187A, PICCADILLY LONDON. Marion Imp. Paris.” There is a manuscript negative number: “181412c”.
Sir John Charles Bucknill was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1866.
