Full length studio portrait of the Reverend Jonathan Cape, seated at a table, his left hand resting upon a paper or blotter. A drape and footstool appear behind.
Inscribed below the image: “MAULL & Co. LONDON”. The reverse is variously inscribed: printed “MAULL & Co. Photographers, 55, GRACECHURCH STREET, 187a PICCADILLY and TAVISTOCK HOUSE, FULHAM ROAD. LONDON.” Below, the negative number: “34219”.
Jonathan Cape was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1852.
