    Full length seated studio portrait of Warren de la Rue, turned to the left as viewed. De la Rue’s right hand rests upon a table upon which is an inkstand; his left hand is on the wooden chair arm. Behind, a plain drape with a tasselled tie.

    Printed below the image: “MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON. The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: “MAULL & POLYBLANK, Photographers, 55, GRACECHURCH STREET, 187a, PICCADILLY, LONDON.”

    Warren de le Rue was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1850.

    Maull & Fox 1879-1908: in partnership with John Fox (1832-1907)

    The Royal Society holds approximately 600 photographic portraits of Fellows taken at Henry Maull studios between the mid-nineteenth century and the early twentieth century.
