Description
Full length studio portrait of Sir George Everest, seated in a relaxed posture in front of a writing desk, holding a opened letter in his right hand. The writing surface has a book and inkstand and there is a patterned drape and footstool behind the sitter.
Printed below the image: “MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON”. The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: “MAULL & POLYBLANK, Photographers, 55, GRACECHURCH STREET, 187a, PICCADILLY, LONDON.” There is a negative enumber below “21131c.”
Sir George Everest was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1827.
