Wooden potato masher made by Ernest Rutherford.
Baron Rutherford of Nelson, Ernest Rutherford (1871-1937) New Zealand-born British physicist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1903 and served as its President between 1925-1930. Rutherford grew up in rural New Zealand. He is believed to have made this masher for his grandmother while visiting her in rural New Zealand.
