    Double portrait showing John Perry and Rookes Crompton beside the edge of a funicular track, probably the Jungfrau Railway, on a mountain in Switzerland. Perry is shown on the left wearing a dark suit and a light hat, Crompton is shown on the right in a light suit and dark bowler hat. The pair are shown in a casual pose with Crompton leaning his right elbow on Perry’s left shoulder, with mountains seen in the background behind them. This photograph was taken during the Institution of Electrical Engineers visit to Switzerland in 1899.

    John Perry (1850-1920), Irish electrical engineer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1885.

    Rookes Evelyn Bell Crompton (1845-1940), British electrical engineer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1933.
