    Description
    Plate 16 from the paper "Some farther account of the fossil remains of an animal, of which a description was given to the Society in 1814", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.106 (1816), pp.318-321. The specimen was from the Lyme Regis area and in the collection of "Mr Johnson", eg James Johnson of Bristol. Therefore collected by him or possibly by Mary Anning, from whom he bought fossils. The painting is inscribed above with publication and plate details. Not signed. Royal Society stamp verso.
