Description
Plate 19 figures 1-9 from the paper "Farther observations on the feet of animals whose progressive motion can be carried on against gravity", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.106 (1816), pp.322-330. Nine views of legs from the yellow Saw-fly (Cimbex lutea) at x100, x400 and x1,600 magnification. The paintings are inscribed above with publication and plate details, the latter repeated. Signed lower left "Franz Bauer". Royal Society stamp verso, with an inscription in ink: "Figs. 1,2,3 are magnified 100 times. Figs. 4,5,6,7 - 400 times and Figs. 8,9, - 1600 times."
