    Plate 20 figures 1-16 from the paper "Farther observations on the feet of animals whose progressive motion can be carried on against gravity", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.106 (1816), pp.322-330. Sixteen views and details of legs from a male specimen of the Great diving beetle (Dytiscus marginalis) at x25, x100, x400, x900 and x40,000 magnification. The paintings are inscribed above with publication and plate details, the latter repeated. Signed lower left "Franz Bauer". Royal Society stamp verso.
