Plate 16 from the paper "Some acount of the nests of the Java swallow, and of the glands that secrete the mucus of which they are composed", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.107 (1817), pp.332-338. Home's paper relays observations by Sir Stamford Raffles on the Edible-nest switlet (Aerodramus fuciphagus). Bauer's nine figures are gullet details of these and other birds under magnification. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed lower left "Franz Bauer del." and lower right "Is. Basire sc.". Magnifications are given in pencil around the edge of the plate.
