Description
Plate 7 from the paper "A case of the human foetus found in the ovarium, of the size it usually acquires at the end of the fourth month", by Augustus Bozzi Granville, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.110 (1820), pp.101-107. A study of a foetus belonging to 39-year old woman who died of internal haemorrhage during pregnancy. The painting shows surrounding tissues inlcuding the placenta, Fallopian tube and corpus luteum. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed and dated lower left "Franz Bauer del. 1819." Royal Society stamp verso.
