    Plate 28 from the paper "On the difference in the appearence of the teeth and the shape of the skull in different species of seals", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.112 (1822), pp.239-240. Side view of the skull half-resting on a book. The animal, of at least thirty years of age, was shot near the Orkney Islands and the skeleton presented to John Hunter. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed and inscribed lower left "Willm. Clift delineavit 1803. Natural Size". Royal Society stamp verso.
