    Unused illustration intended for the paper "On the mechanism of the spine", by Henry Earle, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.112 (1822), pp.276-283. Five figures of spinal vertebrae inscribed in pencil "NB This drawing was cancelled, and another substituted for it! T.C." [Taylor Combe]. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed "Mr H.Earle 28 George St. Hanover Square". Royal Society stamp verso. Watermarked "Slade".
