Description
Illustrations accompanying a letter describing Antoni van Leeuwenhoek's microscopical observations, dated March 1682. An English extract was printed in Philosophical Collections ed. Robert Hooke (London, 1682) no. 5, pp. 152-160. The illustrations show an oyster shell (fig. 6), and Leeuwenhoek's hypothesis about the formation of oyster shells (fig. 7).
