Description
Garden landscape, by Henry Fletcher (fl.1710-1750), featuring a fashionable 18th century couple being escorted around a walled [or topiary] garden by a horticulturalist who has doffed his hat and points towards the left of the image as viewed. The landscape shows a long formal vista leading to a single storey building behind railings. Walkways are visible to the left and right. Two large urns on plinths in the middle ground contain aloes. The foreground has a still life of flowers and fruit with a watering-can. Above, the sun’s rays burst through clouds.
