    Description
Oval, half-face portrait of Samuel Horsley, in bishop’s robes. Horsley was created Bishop of St Asaph in 1802 and the painting must have been commissioned close to that date, probably to commemorate Horsley’s inauguration.

Samuel Horsley was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1767.
