Rev David Laing M.A. F,R.S. son of David Laing brother of John Laing. Peterhouse [Trinity crossed through] Cambridge - Haversted Hill –St. Olive’s, Hart St. Uncle to C.I. Nias. 1800-1860.

A fuller account appears on an accompanying summary of Laing’s life written by Caroline Nias. “Given to the Royal Society by his great niece Miss Caroline Nias March 1927, in memory of her Mother Lady Nias, nee Miss Caroline Isabell Laing, widow of Admiral Sir Joseph Nias HCB 1793-1879. She was the only child of John Laing only brother of the Rev. David Laing who had no issue.
